How do I get from Dumaguete to Bacolod?

Dumaguete and Bacolod sit at opposite ends of Negros, so crossing between them is a long haul. The usual land route runs inland through the mountain town of Mabinay and on via Kabankalan, roughly 195 to 215 km and about 6 hours by car or Ceres bus.
A private car makes the long day far more comfortable, with stops where you like, and door-to-door service instead of terminal-to-terminal. Many travellers instead fly into whichever hub, Dumaguete (DGT) or Bacolod-Silay (BCD), is nearest their destination.
