Valencia & Casaroro Falls
Valencia is our favourite quick escape from the coastal heat: a cool upland town just 10 km west of Dumaguete, where the air drops a few degrees and the road winds up between green ridges.
It is the gateway to Casaroro Falls - a tall, narrow cascade that plunges into a green pool at the foot of a long stairway - along with the Pulangbato red-rock canyon, the Red Rock hot spring and shady forest picnic spots like Forest Camp.
The drive up to Valencia town takes only 20 to 30 minutes, though the Casaroro trailhead is a little further on a narrow road, followed by a stepped walk down to the falls.
The sights are spread along steep side roads with no single public route, so this is a loop our drivers do all the time: you set the pace, stop for photos and coffee, and come back down when you like.
How to get to Valencia

- Jeepney / tricycle (public)~30-45 min
Jeepneys run from Dumaguete to Valencia town, then a habal-habal or tricycle up towards the Casaroro trailhead. Doable, but piecing the sights together takes time.

Best time to visit
Best in the dry season (roughly February to May) when the trail is firm and the falls run clear; after heavy rain the river can be high and the walk slippery.

How far is Valencia from Dumaguete?
Valencia town is only about 10 km west of Dumaguete, a 20 to 30 minute drive uphill. The Casaroro Falls trailhead is a little further on a narrow road, followed by a stepped walk down to the falls.
Is the Casaroro Falls walk difficult?
It is a long stairway down (and back up) plus a short river scramble to the base, so it needs reasonable fitness and decent footwear, but it is short. We can wait at the trailhead while you visit and combine it with the easier Pulangbato and hot-spring stops.
Can I combine Valencia with other stops?
