Short answer

Valencia town is only about 10 km west of Dumaguete, a 20 to 30 minute drive uphill into cooler air. It is the base for Casaroro Falls, the Pulangbato red-rock canyon and Red Rock hot spring, all along steep side roads above the town.

The Casaroro trailhead is a little further on a narrow road, then a long stairway down to the falls. With no single public route linking the sights, a private car makes the half-day loop easy and comfortable.

Step by step: Dumaguete to Valencia

  1. 1
    Drive up to Valencia

A 20 to 30 minute private drive west from Dumaguete into the uplands.

  2. 2
    Continue to the Casaroro trailhead

A narrow road leads to the trailhead; from there it is a stepped walk down to the falls.

  3. 3
    Add Pulangbato and the springs

Pair the falls with the Pulangbato red rocks and Red Rock hot spring, all close together.

  4. 4
    Return when you like

Your driver waits between stops and takes you back down to the coast at your pace.
