How do I get from Valencia and Casaroro Falls back down to Dumaguete?
Short answer
Dumaguete is about 10 km east of Valencia town, 20 to 30 minutes by car back down out of the uplands to the coast. It is the same road as the drive up, and the Casaroro trailhead is a little further up a narrow road above the town.
Our Dumaguete to Valencia half-day already includes the drive back, so this page is for everyone else: visitors who stayed a night in the cooler hills, people who came up by jeepney and habal-habal and want an easier ride down with wet shoes and bags, and anyone heading on from Valencia to a Dumaguete hotel, the Siquijor or Cebu ferry, or the dive coast at Dauin. A private car collects you in Valencia or straight from the trailhead and drops you at the door.

Valencia (Casaroro Falls) to Dumaguete: FAQs
How long does it take to get from Valencia to Dumaguete?
About 20 to 30 minutes for the roughly 10 km back down to the coast. From the Casaroro trailhead it is a little longer, since the narrow road up to it sits above the town.
Can we walk down to Casaroro Falls on the morning we leave Valencia?
Yes, and it is the best reason to stay up there: you can be at the trailhead early, before the light is overhead and while the climb back up the roughly 335 steps is still cool. Allow an hour and a half to two hours from leaving the car to getting back to it. Your bags stay in the car with the driver while you walk the gorge, and the drive down to Dumaguete starts when you are back up. After heavy rain the river walk can be high and slippery, so on a wet morning the roadside stops at Pulangbato and the Red Rock spring are the safer swap.
Do we pass the airport on the way?
No. Dumaguete-Sibulan Airport is about 7 km north of the city, so from Valencia the drive goes through Dumaguete first. If you are flying out the same day, see the Valencia to Dumaguete airport page instead: it works the walk back from your flight.
I am catching a boat or heading to Dauin next. Can you take us straight there?
Yes. Name the next stop with the quote request, whether that is the Dumaguete ferry pier for Siquijor or Cebu, or a resort on the Dauin coast south of the city, and the car goes straight there rather than stopping in town.
Can you do the return trip, Dumaguete back to Valencia (Casaroro Falls)?
Yes. The same private car and driver, Dumaguete back to Valencia (Casaroro Falls) over the same ~10 km. Ask for both legs in one quote request and we price the round trip together. If the way back ends somewhere other than where you started, say where in the Anything else? box on the quote form and we quote that leg instead of the reverse of this one.
How much notice do you need - can I still book this for tomorrow?
Usually yes. There is no minimum notice on this route and no cut-off hour, so a request for tomorrow, or for later today, is worth sending rather than writing off. What settles it is whether a vetted driver is free for the time you need, and you will have the answer and the price by email the same day, usually within a few hours. An early start is routine here rather than a complication. The part that gets harder with less notice is choice - holding a particular vehicle size or an exact pickup hour - not whether the journey can happen, so send the date and, if the timing is tight, the hour you need to be moving.
Do I pay anything up front, and when do I pay the rest?
Nothing to ask for a quote. Once you are happy with the price it is two steps, not a choice between two: a booking fee paid online (card, bank transfer or GCash) confirms the trip and is what gets you your written confirmation, then the balance goes directly to your driver at the end of the journey. The fee is part of the all-in figure you agreed rather than an extra on top of it, and your quote states it before you pay. Free cancellation more than 72 hours before pickup refunds the fee in full.
