Short answer

Dumaguete is about 15 km north of Dauin along the coast road, usually 20 to 30 minutes by car. It is the same road as the run down, out through Bacong, and the slow part is the last stretch into the city rather than the coast.

Most people making this trip are changing base after the diving: a night or two in Dumaguete before the boat to Siquijor or Cebu, a flight out of Sibulan the next morning, or a day back in town for the market, the seafront or a Silliman University errand. A private car collects you and your dive bags at the resort gate and drops you at the door, with no tricycle up the beach lane and no bus change at the highway.

Step by step: Dauin to Dumaguete

  1. 1
    Collected at your resort gate

Your driver meets you at the resort itself, not the highway junction, and the dive bags go straight in the back.

  2. 2
    North along the coast road

Up the shore through Bacong to the edge of Dumaguete, about 15 km and 20 to 30 minutes.

  3. 3
    Dropped where you are staying

Door to door to your hotel, the seafront or the ferry pier. Send the address with your quote request.

Ways to travel, compared

  • Private transfer (what we arrange)~20-30 min

Door to door from your Dauin resort gate to your Dumaguete drop-off, room for dive bags. Fixed, all-in price for the car, request a quote.

  • Tricycle + Ceres bus (public)~40-60 min

A tricycle up to the highway at Dauin, then a northbound Ceres bus into the Dumaguete terminal, then a tricycle to your hotel. Cheapest, but three legs with luggage.

  • Tricycle direct (local)~30-45 min

Some tricycles will run the whole way north. Workable with a light bag, uncomfortable and slow with dive kit or a suitcase.

Dauin to Dumaguete: FAQs

How long does it take to get from Dauin to Dumaguete?

About 20 to 30 minutes for the roughly 15 km north along the coast road, depending on traffic through Bacong and into the city.

Is there room for dive gear and luggage?

Yes - say how many sets of dive gear are coming in the "Anything bulky?" box on the quote form, with your bag count, and the car is sized to the load instead of the passenger count. You are leaving the coast with everything you brought, kit packed wet, and it all has to fit in one run. If you rented your gear on the coast and it stays there, tell us that too and we send something smaller.

Can you pick up from a specific dive resort?

Yes, and please name it. The resorts are spread along several kilometres of the coast road and the lanes down to the beach are mostly unmarked, so give us the resort name with the quote request and the pickup is at its gate.

I am catching a boat or a flight the next day. Can you do that leg too?

Yes. Ask for both in one quote: the run into Dumaguete now, and the pier or Sibulan airport run the next day, and we price them together. If the boat or flight is the same day, tell us its time and we go straight there instead.

Can you do the return trip, Dumaguete back to Dauin?

Yes. The same private car and driver, Dumaguete back to Dauin over the same ~15 km. Ask for both legs in one quote request and we price the round trip together. If the way back ends somewhere other than where you started, say where in the Anything else? box on the quote form and we quote that leg instead of the reverse of this one.

How much notice do you need - can I still book this for tomorrow?

Usually yes. There is no minimum notice on this route and no cut-off hour, so a request for tomorrow, or for later today, is worth sending rather than writing off. What settles it is whether a vetted driver is free for the time you need, and you will have the answer and the price by email the same day, usually within a few hours. An early start is routine here rather than a complication. The part that gets harder with less notice is choice - holding a particular vehicle size or an exact pickup hour - not whether the journey can happen, so send the date and, if the timing is tight, the hour you need to be moving.

Do I pay anything up front, and when do I pay the rest?

Nothing to ask for a quote. Once you are happy with the price it is two steps, not a choice between two: a booking fee paid online (card, bank transfer or GCash) confirms the trip and is what gets you your written confirmation, then the balance goes directly to your driver at the end of the journey. The fee is part of the all-in figure you agreed rather than an extra on top of it, and your quote states it before you pay. Free cancellation more than 72 hours before pickup refunds the fee in full.

Travelling the other way?

Dumaguete → Dauin

We run this route in both directions, with the same car and driver. Ask for both legs in one request and we'll price the round trip together.

We'll pre-fill Dumaguete → Dauin on the form. Just add your dates and details.

Coming back to somewhere else - a different town, the airport, a pier for an onward boat? Say where in the Anything else? box on the form and we price the return to that instead of back to the start.

Starting somewhere else?

We also run to Dumaguete from these starting points. Each page has its own timing and a quote form already filled in for that pickup.
