How do I get from Danjugan Island to Bacolod airport, and can I fly out the same day?
Short answer
Leaving Danjugan is the one transfer on Negros where the clock is set by somebody else. The sanctuary now runs fixed boat schedules, and guests leave the island at 11:30 AM if they are on an overnight or the Eco Tour, or 4:30 PM if they are on the day trip. You cannot bring that forward for a flight, so the flight has to be chosen around it.
From the Antol Danjugan Port jump-off at Brgy. Bulata in Cauayan it is roughly 3 to 4 hours by road up the coast to Bacolod-Silay Airport (BCD). Work that through and the 11:30 boat lands you at the terminal somewhere around 3 to 4 in the afternoon, and the 4:30 boat not until about 8 in the evening.

Can I leave Danjugan and fly out of Bacolod on the same day?
Sometimes, and only in the afternoon. Take the 11:30 AM boat, allow the short crossing and 3 to 4 hours by road, and you are at Bacolod-Silay around 3 to 4 in the afternoon. Check-in closes 45 minutes before a domestic departure at both carriers serving BCD, so an evening flight is comfortable and a late-afternoon one is workable if you are travelling light. If you are on the day trip your boat does not leave the island until 4:30 PM, which puts you at the terminal around 8 in the evening at the earliest, so treat that as a next-day flight and stay in Bacolod. We would rather tell you this before you book the ticket.
What time does the boat actually leave the island?
The sanctuary moved to fixed boat schedules and publishes them: departures from Danjugan at 11:30 AM for Eco Tour and overnight guests, and 4:30 PM for day trip guests and staff. Overnight check-out is 10:00 AM, so there is a gap on the beach before the 11:30 boat rather than an early getaway. These are the sanctuary’s times, not ours, and we time the car to them. Confirm your own slot with them when you book, because a schedule like this can change.
I have an early morning flight from Bacolod. What do I do?
Come off the island the day before and sleep in Bacolod or Silay. There is no boat off Danjugan early enough for a morning departure, and driving through the night from Bulata to make a 6 AM flight is not something we would put you in a car for. The usual shape is the 11:30 boat, the drive north, a night near the airport, then a short morning run to the terminal. We can quote both legs as one booking.
What happens if the sea is rough and the boat does not run?
It happens, and it is worth knowing before you book a tight connection. The sanctuary cancels visits on a Coast Guard advisory, gale warning or storm signal, and says the pick-up point at Bulata can move in poor weather or unfavourable tides. Nobody on the island can promise you a crossing at a particular hour in bad conditions. Leave a day of slack between Danjugan and an international connection, and if your boat moves, tell us and we move the car with it at no extra charge.
Is the boat from the island part of your transfer?
No. Boat transfers from Brgy. Bulata and back are included in the sanctuary’s own packages, so that leg is arranged and paid with them. Our quote covers the road from Antol Danjugan Port to Bacolod-Silay Airport. It is a clean split and it means you are not paying twice for the crossing.
Can we break the drive somewhere on the way north?
Yes, and with 3 to 4 hours of coast road ahead of you it is usually a better day than driving it straight. Sipalay is 30 to 45 minutes up from Bulata for lunch and a beach hour, and Kabankalan sits roughly halfway. Tell us the flight time and how long a stop you want and we quote the run with it built in, as one fixed transfer rather than an hourly meter.
