Short answer

Getting out of Dumaguete is the same 7 km as getting in, north along the coast to Sibulan, 10 to 15 minutes on a quiet road and 20 to 25 when the school run and the morning traffic are on it. The distance is not the problem. The timing is: DGT has only a handful of departures a day, most of them to Manila or Cebu, and a fair few of them leave early.

Check-in closes 45 minutes before a domestic departure at both carriers that fly out of here, and Cebu Pacific asks you to be at the airport two hours before the flight. Work back from that and an early departure means leaving the city while it is still dark. A private transfer booked to the flight rather than to the clock takes that arithmetic off you, and means you are not standing on Perdices Street at 4:45 in the morning hoping a tricycle comes past.

Step by step: Dumaguete City to Dumaguete-Sibulan Airport (DGT)

  1. 1
    Send us your flight

Give us the flight number and departure time with your quote request. We work the pickup back from the counter closing, not from the drive time.

  2. 2
    Pickup at your hotel

Your driver collects you and your luggage at the door at the agreed time, whatever hour that is. No tricycle hunting before dawn.

  3. 3
North along the coast to Sibulan

It is about 7 km up the coast road to the airport at Sibulan, usually 10 to 15 minutes and 20 to 25 in the morning traffic.

  4. 4
    Dropped at departures

DGT is a small single-terminal airport, so it is a short walk from the car to the check-in counter with your bags.

Ways to travel, compared

  • Airport transfer (what we arrange)~10-15 min

A private air-conditioned car from your hotel door to DGT departures, timed to your flight however early it is. Fixed price, request a quote.

  • Tricycle / taxi (public)~15-25 min

Cheapest option and fine in daylight with light bags. Harder to rely on for a pre-dawn departure, and luggage space in a tricycle is limited.

Dumaguete City to Dumaguete-Sibulan Airport (DGT): FAQs

What time should I leave Dumaguete for my flight?

Work back from the counter, not the road. Domestic check-in closes 45 minutes before departure at both airlines serving DGT, and Cebu Pacific asks passengers to be at the airport two hours before the flight. The drive is only 10 to 15 minutes, 20 to 25 in traffic, so for a 7 o’clock departure a pickup around 4:45 gets you there comfortably. Tell us the flight number and we set the time for you.

Is Dumaguete airport the same place as Sibulan pier?

No, and people mix them up in both directions. Dumaguete-Sibulan Airport (DGT) and Sibulan port, where the Cebu fast craft from Liloan lands, are both in Sibulan and only minutes apart, but they are different places. If you are flying, you want the airport; if you are crossing to Cebu by ferry, you want the pier. Say which one and your driver goes to the right gate.

I have been diving at Dauin or Apo Island. How long before I can fly?

The Divers Alert Network guidance is a minimum 12-hour surface interval after a single no-decompression dive, and at least 18 hours after multiple dives in a day or several days of diving. In practice that means your last dive day has to finish the day before you fly. Plan the final day as a dry one and we time the airport run around it, including a pickup from Dauin or the dive resorts on the coast road if that is where you are staying.

Can you pick up from Dauin, Valencia or the Twin Lakes on the way?

Yes. The airport sits north of the city, so a pickup from the dive coast at Dauin, from Valencia in the hills or from anywhere else in the area is just a longer first leg on the same run. Tell us where you are staying and the flight, and we quote the whole thing as one fixed transfer.

What if my flight is cancelled or moved?

Domestic schedules out of DGT do change. Let us know as soon as you do and we move the pickup to the new time. It is the same driver and the same fixed price, we just run it later or earlier.

Can you do the return trip, Dumaguete-Sibulan Airport (DGT) back to Dumaguete City?

Yes. The same private car and driver, Dumaguete-Sibulan Airport (DGT) back to Dumaguete City over the same ~7 km. Ask for both legs in one quote request and we price the round trip together.

Landed at Dumaguete and our driver was right there with a sign. Easy run down to Dauin and the price was exactly as quoted. So much calmer than sorting a ride at the airport.
