Short answer

Leaving Siquijor for a flight is two journeys with a handover in the middle. First the fast craft from Siquijor Town Port across to Dumaguete port, roughly 40 to 60 minutes. Then a short road leg: Dumaguete-Sibulan Airport (DGT) is only about 5 km north of the pier, which is 15 to 25 minutes depending on how the city is moving. The road is the short and dependable half of this trip.

The crossing is the half that moves. Sailings on this route get re-timed and cancelled often enough that it is a normal feature of travelling here rather than a rare event - OceanJet published trip cancellations and schedule adjustments across Central Visayas repeatedly through August 2026, on top of the usual weather days. Planning a flight around one specific boat, with no boat behind it, is the mistake this page exists to prevent.

So the sensible shape of a departure day is the earliest sailing you can face rather than the one that lines up neatly with the counter, and for an early flight, crossing the day before. What we arrange is the Negros half: a driver meeting your boat at Dumaguete port and running you out to departures, timed off your flight number rather than a guessed pickup hour.

Step by step: Siquijor to Dumaguete-Sibulan Airport (DGT)

  1. 1
Send us your flight and your sailing

Flight number, departure time, and which boat you are booked on. We work the pickup back from the counter closing rather than from the scheduled docking time, so a boat that comes in late does not leave you without a car.

  2. 2
Check in at Siquijor Town Port

Operators ask you to be at the terminal at least 30 minutes before departure, and 45 to 60 minutes in peak season. Bring the ID that matches the name on your ticket - it is checked, and a mismatch is not something you want to discover on a flight morning.

  3. 3
    Cross to Dumaguete port

About 40 to 60 minutes on the fast craft. The RORO takes considerably longer, so it is the wrong boat for a same-day flight even though it is the cheaper one.

  4. 4
    Met at Dumaguete port

Your driver is at the pier when you walk out, so there is no negotiating with tricycles at the gate with your bags out in the open.

  5. 5
    North to Sibulan

About 5 km up the coast road out of the city to the airport, which sits in Sibulan just past the northern edge of Dumaguete. Quick outside the school run and the late-afternoon build-up, slower through the middle of the day.

  6. 6
    Dropped at departures

DGT is a single-terminal airport, so it is a short walk from the car door to the check-in counter.

Ways to travel, compared

  • Airport transfer from Dumaguete port (what we arrange)~15-25 min from the pier

A private air-conditioned car meeting your boat at Dumaguete port and running you to DGT departures, timed to your flight and held if the crossing arrives late. Fixed, all-in price for the car, request a quote. The ferry ticket is yours to book and is not part of the quote.

  • Siquijor → Dumaguete fast craft~40-60 min

Fast craft (OceanJet, Montenegro Lines and others) cross several times a day from Siquijor Town Port. The ticket is a public fare bought from the operator or at the pier. Confirm the current sailing times directly with the operator before you travel, and check for cancellation notices on the day.

  • Montenegro RORO (vehicles and motorbikes)materially longer than the fast craft

The RORO is the boat to take if you are bringing a motorbike or a car, and the cheaper one. It is also much slower, and published figures for the crossing vary widely between sources, from about an hour and a half to around three hours. We have not been able to pin it to a single reliable number, so treat it as unsuitable for a same-day flight unless the operator confirms the timing to you directly.

  • Tricycle from the pier (public)~20-30 min

Tricycles wait at Dumaguete port and will run you out to the airport. Cheapest by a long way, fine in daylight with one light bag, and unprotected from rain. Nothing is reserved, so it depends on what is at the gate when a full boat unloads at once.

Siquijor to Dumaguete-Sibulan Airport (DGT): FAQs

What time should I leave Siquijor for my flight?

Work back from the counter and then give the sea a whole extra sailing. Domestic check-in closes 45 minutes before departure at both airlines serving DGT, and Cebu Pacific asks passengers to be at the airport two hours ahead. Add 15 to 25 minutes for the drive from the pier, 40 to 60 minutes for the crossing, and 30 minutes of port check-in before that. The arithmetic gives you roughly three hours door to counter, but the number that actually protects you is having a later boat you could still take. Send us the flight number and we set the pickup from it.

Can I fly out of Dumaguete the same day I leave Siquijor?

Comfortably, for an afternoon or evening flight, if you take a morning sailing. For anything departing before about 10 AM the honest answer is to cross the afternoon before and stay in Dumaguete. The whole trip is only a couple of hours of moving, so it is not distance that makes an early flight awkward - it is that the first boat of the day leaves you no second chance if it does not sail.

What happens if my ferry is cancelled?

It is a real possibility on this route rather than a remote one, which is why we ask for the flight number instead of just a pickup time. Tell us as soon as you know and we move the car; the driver is not sitting on a meter at the pier. If the sailing you needed is the last one that would have made the flight, the airline is the call to make first, and it is a much better call to be making from Siquijor the day before than from the pier an hour after check-in closed.

Which port do I leave from on Siquijor?

Most Dumaguete sailings go from Siquijor Town Port, in the island capital. Larena Port on the north-east coast handles other routes, and it is about 18 km and 20 minutes away by road, so the two are not interchangeable on a tight morning. Check which port your ticket names before you arrange your island-side ride to it.

Is Dumaguete airport the same place as the ferry pier?

No, and there are two separate mix-ups to avoid here. Dumaguete port, where you land from Siquijor, is in the city; the airport is about 5 km north in Sibulan. Separately, Sibulan port - where the fast craft to Liloan in Cebu leaves - is near the airport but is not the airport. Say whether you want the terminal or the pier and your driver goes to the right one.

Do you arrange the ferry ticket too?

No. Our quote covers the private car and driver from Dumaguete port to DGT departures. The ferry is a public fare you book with the operator, and on a departure day we would rather you booked it yourself and early than waited on us to do it. Transport on Siquijor to your port is arranged on the island, since it is a separate island province.

Is there room for luggage and dive gear?

Yes. Tell us how many passengers and how many bags with your quote request and we send a vehicle that fits the lot, rather than turning up with a car that is too small for the kit. Worth saying if you have been diving on Siquijor, because the surface interval before a flight is a fixed rule: the Divers Alert Network guidance is a minimum 12 hours after a single no-decompression dive and at least 18 hours after multiple dives or several days of diving. That decides which day you can fly, not just which boat you take.

Can we stop in Dumaguete on the way to the airport?

Yes, and it is the usual answer to an early boat and a late flight. The pier is in the middle of the city, so the seafront, Rizal Boulevard and lunch are all within a few minutes of where you land, and the car can hold your luggage while you use the gap. Tell us the flight and how long the wait is and we quote the run with the stop in it as one fixed transfer.

Can you do the return trip, Dumaguete-Sibulan Airport (DGT) back to Siquijor?

Yes. We meet your ferry at the pier and drive you back to Siquijor, the same road leg in reverse. The crossing stays your own booking, as on the way out. Ask for both legs in one quote request and we price them together.
